They say memories are golden, well, maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories, I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you, a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place no one else could fill.
If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to Heaven and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us back one by one, the chain will link again.

Wesley didn't feel sick but I noticed something was wrong, so I took him to the veterinarian and they made an echo and took a blood sample. The results were shocking....the kidney blood levels were so high that he had to undergo a transfusion to clean his kidneys. 3 Days later another blood sample was taken and it looked bad. The blood levels hadn't dropped, but got even higher. The vet had no hope for him and gave him just a couple more days to live. We decided to take him home and let him enjoy his last days.

Instead of getting sicker, he got better and stronger every day. After 2 weeks we went back to the vet and he took another blood sample because the vet was so surprised to see him this active and lively. The kidney levels were dropped at least by half but his blood pressure stayed very low. The vet believed this was caused by a bladder stone that they found during the earlier echo. The bladder stone might have contained bacteria that caused a kidney infection. Together with the vet we decided to have him operated to remove this bladder stone. Operation went fine and it looked like he was doing very well.

2 Days later I saw that he didn't feel so well but as always he was happy to accompany me to work. We even took a short walk outside. There had been no sign whatsoever that this day was going to be his last. And half an hour later it happened.....I was away for a few minutes and when I got back I saw him lying down. I knelt down beside him and in my arms he took his last breath! Later I talked to the vet and he was shocked by hearing this news. Maybe the operation had been too much for him after all. Maybe he suffered a complication which we never noticed. We will never know what really happened, we can only guess. It is good to know that in these last 3 weeks he wasn't sick and hardly had any pain. He enjoyed every single moment of the day in these last weeks, his daily walks, lying in the sun. One thing we know for sure......

WE WIL MISS HIM VERY MUCH!!

Sweet dreams dear Wes and remember....one day we will meet again....at the other side of the Rainbow Brigde.

Dear Wesley,

You were our first minpin and you were perfect....both in looks and in character! Thanks to you we started to do shows, thanks to you we have Whisper. You gave us much joy and also for the breed you appeared to be very valuable. You were, you are and you will always be our pride! We still had so many plans for you, we wanted to do so many things. You will always be in our minds, where ever we go, what ever we do.
